Nan river travel

Featured Replies

Hi up there, first time on this particular forum,

am interested to know if there are any passenger boat services that run on the Nan River at any point? Curious to know how far down the river one could go, using public transport.

Thx for any ideas

If you mean in Nan province there is no public transport boat. It's difficult to go far anyway coz of some dams. There is a boat that takes tourists that leaves from opposite the Army Camp next to the hospital. It just goes a bit further north but is stopped by a small dam. Most of the year the river near Nan city is only knee deep.

Don't know the name of that type of dam in English. Going south is a longer trip but only for a few miles. Going past Wiang Sa you eventually run into the big dam Queen Sirikit. There are floating raft hotels and boats on that water.
