Where were you thinking about doing it ? I would guess the Samae San area just South East of Sattahip or if you have a boat

some of islands off Sattihip in the navy area would be best.

Edit I replied from general topics section not realizing your local

It's legal as long as you don't use SCUBA gear.

Even with scuba it is legal in Thailand.

I was told years ago it wasn't. But I've been wrong before...

But you won't spear any fish uusing scuba.. The bubbles frighten them all away. You won't get anywhere near them. I even remove my snorkel and tuck it in my belt, when I'm going to dive, because the few bubbles coming out of scare the fish away.

not much fish around nowadays. but still spearfishing is a lot of fun just to be under water, and the beautiful scenery. It's hard to believe but I made a living spearfishing in Pattaya in 1965, I speared at least 50 kgs a day. I think I was the first person to go spearfishing in Thailand in 1963. My first days spearfishing in Pattaya, I got 150 kg of fish. All good eating too. Later I went on to Phuket and picked up 25 lobsters at the north end of Patong beach.

With people taking catches like that, its no wonder there is no fish left

50 years ago practices have no bearing on today's stocks. Spearfishing is much more selective than the ultra small mesh dragnets that the locals rape the ocean with.
