webfact
Driver oblivious as body of man dragged 200 meters under Pattaya Baht BusPATTAYA: -- In the early hours of Monday, a Thai man was killed after he was dragged under a Baht Bus for 200 meters and its driver claimed he knew nothing and denied any knowledge of him running over the victim. The incident occurred in East Pattaya off Soi Neun Plub Wan and resulted in the death of a partially-clothed Thai man thought to be aged in his late fifties. The body was on the road outside of a house owned by the Baht Bus driver, Khun Waipot aged 47, who claimed he knew nothing and parked his Baht Bus outside of his house as normal at the end of his shift.Initially a neighbor, Khun Wasan aged 49, was awoken by the sound of a vehicle being driven erratically and then he heard the sound of a dog barking outside of his house which led him to investigate further which is when he saw the dead body on the road and called the Police.Full story: http://pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/219869/driver-oblivious-as-body-of-man-dragged-200-meters-under-pattaya-baht-bus/-- Pattaya One 2015-12-

zoza
on Friday as me and the wife and another lady were attempting to cross the road by the school at the junction of 2nd road pattaya thai as we went to get to the pavement a baht bus reversed at such a speed that if we had not been vigilant we would of all been seriously injured in what appeared to be a deliberate attempt to do us harm. I am well used to the majority of baht bus drivers lack of driving skills and poor awareness but this was different no one in their right mind reverses flat out in those areas unless they are looking to harm someone? maybe it was his ex wife crossing with us? but the wife did say he stared at the group of us after I had shouted a warning to the other lady. IamNoone88
I don't know what is worse (i) The driver for dragging the victim 200m and allegedly not knowing about or (ii) The police for not arresting him.........

Srikcir
The body was found on the road. In terms of pure direct evidence, did someone witness the accident or observe the body leaving the undercarriage of the bus? Was there CCTV evidence? Did the police otherwise find evidence on the bus to indicate the body had been hit and dragged? Otherwise, the driver might rightly claim having no knowledge of the cause for the death. A police arrest at the scene would be premature. Same for taking a sobriety test. The driver was at home for a while before the discovery of the body; he could claim he had a couple drinks at home to help relax. This case needs a lot more evidence barring a confession before an arrest. Unless the police declare the death a "suicide."

atyclb
supposedly a high % of thais prefer dead to maimed because dead costs less than medical care - long term care
bbbbooboo
Hmmm....I wonder if having difficulty steering and the bumpy ride might have been clues that something was amiss ......clearly not in Thailand, the land of smiles.
KhunBENQ
Bloody liar or full of bad stuff or can Baht bus drivers be deaf? I unfortunately once hit a fairly small dog (less than 10 kg) and that was a bang already. The dog was "rolled" under the car (more rumbling), The dog then walked away
