3-4 days Paris end of May -Mid June Q= Hotel ? suggestion

The first time I went I bought a guided tour. They picked me up at the airport and took me to a hotel they chose. The next few days they picked me up at that hotel (along with others) and took me to all all of the main attractions and always with a tour guide. This was a big beautiful tour bus. I think it was well worth it for a first timer.

The next time I went I used the Metro (subway). I think Paris has the best organized and easiest to understand and use subway anywhere. You simply get a map at a station. The map will have all of the lines in colors with numbers. The station numbers will be marked. When you want to go see anything you just determine which line/color goes there and get on it at a station. The stations are of course underground and accessed by stairs in the sidewalks. Just make a note of which line and station you get onto in the morning so you can find your hotel, LOL.

you can order a paris pass online and have it delivered to your hotel.

Note that hotel rooms in paris are small, why not try something like Airbnb, 9flats.com or Wimdu (you can specify the language to use in the main menu)

If you're going to be there at least a week you might consider buying a bus tour through the Loire Valley. I did that as a one day trip and saw the storybook castles with moats and all. We stopped and went into and through a couple of them and in one of them we had lunch. You can bet your lady has never seen anything like this.

We visited Paris a few years ago. 3-4 days isn't much time to really explore the city. I'd get a guide book. The major sites are listed, along with prices, opening times, transport schedules, etc. I like Rick Steves because he just focuses on the important stuff. And gives great recommendations on the best times to visit the various places, along with suggested itineraries, where to stay, etc.

Hotels are not cheap there. Tripadvisor.com is pretty good to help sort out hotels. It's a great city. Have fun!

I was trying to remember who hooked me up with the tour company and it was in fact Rick Steves. I don't know if it was his tour or if he was a broker for it. There wasn't a single slip up and everything was smooth and well organized.

Cheers.

Great, great suggestions indeed. Reminds me of 1968 when as joung soldier stationed with NATO HQ I spent every weekend at the Place Saint Michelle, memories never fade.
