PATTAYA: -- In the early hours of Wednesday, Banglamung Police were called to a 24-hour convenience store in North Pattaya after members of the public saw one of the ATM’s in front of the store was either damaged or had been broken into.

Police arrived at the 7-Eleven Store close to the Nong Get Yai Market and inspected the SCB ATM. Its front compartment was open and mysteriously the Security Camera covering that part of the store was not working.

Staff at the store told Police that earlier in the day a technician working for SCB Bank had conducted routine repairs on the machine and for now staff cannot be sure if the front compartment had opened by itself or if someone had broken into the machine.

Great story clap2.gif

"" staff cannot be sure if the front compartment had opened by itself ""

I think the meaning of the comment was that it might not have been properly closed after servicing and popped open after some time as opposed to someone prying it open. If there was no evidence of damage, that's probably a sensible scenario.

Not sure of the inner workings of an ATM, but assume that access to the cash stored in it would require more than just lifting the ATM cover.

Usually ATMs suffer a lot more when some genius tries to get the money out.

How dare you post a considered, logical, and clearly written post based on a degree of insight that is without an unwarranted slur, generalization, or exercise in catastrophization! Don't you know where you are??

I have seen it before where a member or staff failed to secure the covers on the ATM...

The money is stored in inner safe that dispenses it, what these ATM's should have is monitoring switches that warn the monitoring station.

mysteriously the Security Camera covering that part of the store was not working.

mysteriously Not surprisingly the Security Camera covering that part of the store was not working.

An ATM is a safe with some fancy stuff around like electronics/card reader, display etc.

To get to the big money you have to break open the safe.

Detonation/blasting with gas is quite popular these days.

Crashing with a heavy truck and simply taking it away with some strong men is another one.

Well it seems that when a plane allegedly hits the pentagon the cameras there do not get anything either, or in London when alleged terrorists plant bombs on trains or busses. It seems the things never work when you need them to!

However, I think in this instance its not a big conspiracy. ATM was probably not closed properly and it sprung open, there is nothing in there of much value as the money is in a different part of the ATM.
