Public business agencies to share information to reduce data redundancy

BANGKOK, 18 December 2015 (NNT) - The Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) has signed an agreement with two public electronic agencies in an attempt to eliminate data redundancy in investment applications.

Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Krea-ngarm said the BOI has signed the agreement with the Electronic Government Agency and Electronic Transactions Development Agency.

Under the agreement, the two agencies are expected to share information instead of keeping the same business data independently. The move is aimed at eliminating data redundancy.

During the first phase of streamlining, Business information will be transferred from the Department of Business Development and stored at the BOI in June next year. Those applying for investment incentives from the BOI will no longer be required to submit certain documents that should already be in the board's database.

Complete information sharing should be achieved in the second phase. If successful, other government agencies will adopt a similar method of data management to enhance the convenience and accessibility of government services.
