District Officials and Navy conduct drugs raid at East Pattaya Village

PATTAYA -- Banglamung District Officials received information regarding a village in the Huay Yai area in East Pattaya where drug usage and dealing was thought to be widespread so a drug suppression operation in conjunction with the Royal Thai Navy was organized.

On Thursday Night a team of heavily armed officers conducted a raid of the village and initially detained 3 people, 2 men and 1 woman, who were caught with small quantities of Marijuana, a class 5 drug in Thailand, which they would reportedly mix with tablets normally used to cure coughs.

Information from this initial raid led officers to a nearby house where they saw 3 youths who attempted to escape when they saw officers. They appeared extremely nervous and were carrying drug-taking paraphernalia but were not in possession of any narcotics.

If only they were so assiduous about tackling (I should say "alleged") corruption by city and public officials in the city and examining some of the procurement projects here.

So, municipal clerks and Navy personnel are doing the drug raids, while the police is doing what? Rewarding themselves?

The Pattaya Police are getting nervous about getting there quota. If pot smokers which is legal in many countries is the best you can do. I see you bust them early and go back to your sleep time. Every one knows the big dealers but the police are afraid of them! If this is the best they can do Thailand is doomed!

They show a gun here on a Pot raid. Go to every farmer house and see if they have a rifle! They raided just for the news. Probably bored but did not want to raid the real drug dealers!
