Severence Pay

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I sold my company. New owner taking over old staff. Do I need to pay severence pay if new owner keep old staff on ?

If you sold your company to another person then your staff should still continue to be paid by that company. So why even think about severance pay ?

Best ask your accountant ...

Provided company registration etc. all stays the same, your obligations have ended. Up to the new owner.

Unless you were forced or felt obliged to terminate employees prior to the sale/handover/transfer, then they went with the business, and you duty has ended.

Their employment record is still intact with the company you sold, so if at some time in the future the new Owner wants to terminate, he will have to pay out the severance as per Thai labor law.

Go fishing and enjoy your proceeds.
