Hi, this is my first post in the motor forum. I recently bought a new Accord 3.0V6, the "last" of the outgoing model with the "wrap-around" rear lights. I am very happy with the car, and since it was the last car out of the showroom (to make room for the 2007 model), I got a super hefty discount, very well negotiated by my g/f. So all is well... But as you guys know, there can always be MORE POWER, and even though 220bhp is quite nice, it seems that this car was sold in other countries with 244 bhp. So here is my first question:

1. Can I get an engine management chip to boost power to 244 (or more) bhp? Where do I get it, approx. price, and will this mean I lose the Honda warrenty?

2. I asked at my Honda dealer about fitting a "driver A/driver B" switch, that can set the driver's seat to each drivers preference. Also wing mirrors and a/c settings would be nice, but seat is the main priority. "Honda no have" was the answer. Is there anywhere else to get this done, in the retrofit market?

3. I am looking for some stuff for the car that I have not found in Thailand:

• Jumperleads with electronic protection (is this really needed btw?)

• A reflective "warning triangle" to put 150-200 meters behind the car in case of puncture or other breakdown. Seems the trend here is to put a big branch of a shrub 15 meters behind the old Hino truck, but I want something more ...

• A tow-bar (telescopic, to fit in the trunk?) or tow rope.

So where do I find these items, I don't live in BKK, but can go to there if required. You might wonder why I want all this stuff with a new car, well I just like to be prepared. It is like if you don't bring your umbrella, it will rain. But if you do, it will usually NOT rain... That's my theory anyway

Edit for typo (if any more, please let them go...)

Wooden,

The Accord and the Civic are underpowered compared to the European and Japanese models, something to do with tax regs.As far as more power is concerned, you could have the ECU modified at any of the garages that specialze in VTEC engines.I have listed a few below. Not sure how this would affect the Honda warranty though.

As far as aftermarket parts go that arent available in LOS.Try some of the import companies that specialize in Japanese performance parts. These can be found in any of the Thai modified car magazines such as Race,Tuned or XO Autosport. If you cant find any companies, let me know and il get some numbers for you.

Honda VTEC specialists:

Speedway (SriNakarin Rd)

JSpeed 01 423 0558

Bear R Honda (Ramintra) 09 113 2617 (recommended)

Hope this helps.

Hi Skyline,

Thanks for the info, I shall call the one you recommend and see what they say. If I get any good answers, I shall post them here later.

One quick point on an informative post by skyline.

Any modifications to ECU/chip will invalidate your Honda warranty.

On a positive note, im sure you will be able to get more than 244BHP out of it after a remapping and a session on a rolling road tho!

For a reflective triangle, though i have never seen them in an auto store, you might want to head to a Mercedes dealer, as they are supplied with the as OEM.

Regards

(quick typo edit... The Singha is kicking in!)

Hi Moonfruit,

If it will invalidate the warranty, then it is not worth it. 220bhp is still quite nice and adequate for most situations. I guess I shall just enjoy the car I have, and not lust for something else. Thanks for taking the time to answer.
