A Message to all U.S. Citizens in the Chiang Rai Area:

The U.S. Citizen Services Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Chiang Mai is pleased to inform you of our upcoming consular visit to Chiang Rai on Friday, February 5, 2016. Consular staff will be available to provide services from 8:30 – 11:30 in the morning, at the Le Meridien Hotel.

The following consular services will be available:

  • Passport renewal (Note: an applicant’s new passport will be sent by courier to the Consulate in Chiang Mai directly from the U.S. print facility. The applicant or a designated representative must pick up the new passport at the Consulate.) It takes up to two weeks for the Consulate to receive the new passport. Applicants will retain their current passport, which remains valid until it is cancelled when the new passport is picked up. Please complete and print your passport application online here: https://pptform.state.gov/. Also, please make a copy of your passport photo and signature pages in advance to avoid paying extra at the hotel front office for a copy.
  • Notarial services forms for the most common notary services can be found online here: http://chiangmai.usconsulate.gov/service/notarial.html.
  • Social Security or other federal benefits questions
  • Registering to vote come find out the process for voting or visit www.FVAP.gov

NOTE: We are sorry that we cannot accept applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad. Applicants must come to Chiang Mai for these services.
