Looks like a propitiatory brand sold by a specific service provider just like as in Thailand, True sells it's own "True" phones. They usually don't disclose the original manufacturers (OEM) identity.

If it has a removable battery, you might find a clue on the sticker under the battery or on the inside of the back cover.

You could also download the free app: "CPU-Z" from Play Store. That will give you a bunch of data about the phone and possibly the OEM under heading "Device".

From your screenshot, it looks like it might not have Google Apps. Not sure if "MobiApps" has GPU-Z but you could sideload it off several sources.

Had a look "under the bonnet" like you said, but the sticker under the battery has Mobiistar written on it, so does the sticker on the battery. There is no other brand or make written anywhere on the phone.
I will run the the system device manager/benchmarking tool and see what that reports back. But it seems like a brand specific (and only on sale) within Vietnam. Bit like, I-Mobile that is based (and sells phones) in Thailand..Although I heard they are now doing business in Cambodia, laos, Indonesia, Myanmar etc.
Did a search for 'mobiistar' on lazada.co.th and the only result is for some cycling gear called 'movistar'.
Great if you taking part in a bike for mom....
If you do same search on lazada.vn, you will get many results for mobiistar mobiles and smartphones.
I havent come across a service provider in vietnam called Mobiistar, but mobiphone is one of big players. Similar to TrueMove, AIS, DTAC in Thailand.

Does anyone know if we can hire smartphones in Thailand or Vietnam?..I'd like to hire one for about one week up to one month (depending on cost).

I know this service is avaialble in the U.S and U.K. And travel sites, like this one, advise that you can hire a phone before travel.

Hiring at the destination could be useful if your own smartphone that you travel with becomes faulty while you are on holiday abroad. We could hire/rent until it's fixed or until we buy new one.

I've never seen phones for rent anywhere in Bangkok...even in MBK. There are some reasonably decent spec phones in the B3-4000 range as long as you don't play action games.

B690 buys a True branded smartphone with a 3.5" display.

You can buy one for about 690b up (7/11), so hiring wouldn't be beneficial.

A decent smartphone?, for 690b?

no one mentioned "decent" you inferred emergency replacement.. As in hiring.. It's a 3.5" touchscreen Android phone. Fits the inferred meaning. Your welcome.

woaw!, hold the phone. before we start thanking ourselves. What is this phone you say is available for 690bhat up? (is this some gimmick....from 690b upwards meaning actually 6000 bhat), any chance of a link to the site?, or is it available in 7-eleven only?.
I didn't mean emergency replacement at all. Wonder if anyone knows what I was hinting at?.
