I'm shopping for a laptop and I am holding off because I can not communicate that I would like to know their return it exchange policy.

When I ask they just stare at me.

Is it the case that they will not let you exchange or return products? I know many stores are like that.

The usual policy I have found is return within 7 days and get an even exchange; after 7 days the item is returned to the dealer for replacement/repair per guarantee. Sometimes a refund is allowed within that 7 day window.

Even in larger stores, you can never be sure. Often there are independent concessions within stores and their policies aren't always the same as the host. You should always ask them as best you can before buying.

Many stores will unpack and test a tech item before letting you take it, thus demonstrating it was working at time of purchase.

I don't think there is an equivalent word for "refund" in any Asian language.

Our return policy: you bought it, it's yours. You go now.

Seriously, once the $$ has changed hands that's the end of the story. Maybe Tesco or Big C, but never tried myself.

Tesco has the return policy listed in English and Thai at the help desk.
