Sometimes YES, sometimes NO. It depends on the beach and if the police have busted, swooped, raided, seized, or collected a brown envelope recently. That is after the Navy comes through and clears. Then there is the 10% zone.

Just take a towel and sit where you want , Just tell the Thai man that comes up and kicks sand in your face to piss off, I hear the foods not bad in Thai hospitals now, let us know how you get on ,

The beaches of Phuket have, in the main, been restored to to their natural state,

Beaches comprising of a mass of beds and brollies can still be found in Benidorm, Spain, I am told.

I guess you haven't been here in a while... I've always sat where I wanted and never really had a problem in over 10 years here. But now there are a few illegal loungers once in a while, until photos turn up on the local news and the navy goes out and kicks them off. You can rent a mat and umbrella in the 10% zones, or bring your own chair and umbrella and put it anywhere...

There are no sunbeds on the beaches at Patong or close to it

There are ridiculous mounds of sand heaped up for back rests on some parts of the beach that you are meant to hire with a mat

At 6,30 in the morning the parasail and raft boats are being launched, the jetskis are starting to swarm. Thai males are pissing on the trees a 100 metres from the too few toilets.

At 1 in the afternoon in January this year, there were a couple of 100 people on a 2 km beach, a fraction of the 20,000 or so that were there pre coup.

Pristine beach? well maybe to someone who hasn't been to many of the beaches in the world.

Who has gained out of these changes?

Phuket beaches are so much more beautiful since the sunbeds are gone. The move also removed a big level of corruption.

You can bring your own chair to our beautiful beach or not. We'll miss you but I wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable. Ummm, better if you stay home and sulk.

By the title on this thread, you're a sunchair guy, I can tell. Best find another spot.

At the moment I think sunbeds in Paradise Beach, Ya Nui Beach, and there must be more.

Yes, but none of the popular beaches have sun loungers. Maybe a few of those small beaches tucked away out of sight might chance hiring sun loungers.

The OP asks for the beaches where there are sunloungers. So if anybody else knows some more places we could be really on the way to help the OP.

I was at Layan Beach today and most if not all the beach bars had beds dotted around the beach with signs advertising beach beds for rent...
