Continuing orthodontic treatment started here back in UK

Featured Replies

My wife (42) visited a dentist she has good experience with in Bua Yai ( near Korat) as she is in need of braces for quite complex orthodontic treatment, not just cosmetic,as her teeth continue to move in a way that is causing discomfort which we believe will only worsen. She has some extracted teeth towards the rear which apparently makes the fitting of the brace not straightforward according to him. Because the whole ongoing process may take up to three years and we are considering moving back to UK in about 18 months he was unwilling to commence treatment on the basis that what he did here would not be compatible with/ suitable for continued treatment back home. At least, you could say he was being honest in not just wanting money without consideration of her long term interest and he has provided her with good treatment in the past. However I am puzzled by this and can't,due to complexity of the subject translate exactly what the technical issues are. Obviously we would like to start treatment before returning to uk (if indeed we did) so would be grateful for some qualified informed guidance about this scenario (so please not subjective opinions ) . We live in Phimai (60 kilometres from Korat )in case someone knows a good dentist/orthodontist nearby.

A cousin of mine had the same issue with her orthodontic treatment. She went to a dentist here in Bangkok (Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic) and she was informed that for her case to be taken up and continued by another specialist, she would need to present a referral and treatment plan from her previous dentist. To cut to the chase, she had “Invisalign” instead, to get rid of having to check in with another dentist back in Switzerland. Just ain’t sure if there is a clinic-provider for Invisalign at your place.
