I need to solder a small component onto a laptop board, should only take a couple of min but I haven't got the gear myself....

I don't have anyone particular to recommend, but if you go to Pranthip, on the upper floors all the way in the back you'll see booths with people doing low-level repairs with soldering irons. You could make a deal with someone who appears to know his stuff.
