Flagged at Don Muang

Featured Replies

I had an ED visa until last summer and have since been flying in and out of the country until this week where I was flagged as I have done this six times in a row or

approx. 6 months.

It was no big fuss but I was told that I cant enter the country again if I dont have a prober visa.

My question is if its possible to get a tourst visa in Vientiane after having been doing six back to back visa runs by flight or do I need to go back to my home country to get a visa. Im not sure if the back to back visa runs will count against them issuing a tourist visa.

Suggestions appreciated.

You should be able to obtain a single entry tourist visa without difficult if you hold a "Western" passport.

The Embassy/Consulate will disregard the visa-exempt entries.

People are told this but I have never met anyone who was actually knocked back. Some on the OG subforums said it happened.

What are the OG subforums? Can you provide a link? Thanks

Thank you for this

Sorry if I'm missing something in your post, but are your now frequent 'out/ins' purely for tourism purposes? If not, why haven't you applied for the appropriate visa much earlier?

This sounds like you left each time when your visa exempt entry ended. You could have extended each entry with a 30 day extension of stay at immigrations. 3 visa exempt entries could have given you about 6 months in total.
