A dificult situation and request for help and advice. (Fast Track Oz visa?)

This isn't particularly amusing or entertaining but you might be able to help.

A bloke who lives in and is married in LOS but works in Aus gets diagnosed with aggressive multiple Myeloma. Bone Cancer.

After a few months of misdiagnoses and so on things finally become clear and a plan is produced.

Basically he's had very intensive radiotherapy in Aus and gone home to his wife for 3 months. Goes back to Aus for tests and the cancer has spread, quite dramatically.

Last week.

He's recommended to attend 3 months of Chemo and then transfer to another state for a 3 month bone marrow transplant.

it is essential that he has someone with him throughout this.

His wife is in Thailand, has never been to Aus.

His mate who is resident in LOS tries to organise the visa but just gets the run around and after 2 weeks is still talking to robots on the phone.

Bloke with cancer says "bugger it" and against medical advice, though they do understand, takes the risk of flying home to LOS to sort out the visa and to try and get back to the hospital ASAP.

Time is of the essence.

Every day wasted hunting humans for a visa means the cancer has progressed making the Chemo more difficult and the bone marrow transplant less possible.

The fight for the visa starts at 09.30 tomorrow morning when he calls the Aus Embassy and tries to talk to a human.

As far as the Doctors are concerned he's got about a week to 10 days to get back into the embracing arms of the Oncology department. Much more and he's risking the possibility of the transplant and all that that means.

OK the "bloke" is me and I'm asking for any advice, suggestions, connections or contacts, constructive thoughts or ideas as to how we can expedite the issuance of at least a tourist visa so I can get her back to Darwin and get the treatment going.

I'm hoping that even if only a tourist visa is issued we may then be able to change it in Darwin at the Immigration office in town.

I'm going to be hospitalized for at least 7 months and slightly nuts with the drug regime. So I really need her there. My Doctors are also insisting on it and have written various letters of support saying exactly that.

If you can help we thank you.

By the way we're up near Chiang Kong.

Cheers all.

You don't need to go to thailand . In fact you can now even do the process online. There is a pinned thread in Visas to other countries.

For her first visa most likely she will be given a single entry visa. Maximum stay 3 months. Even a 12 month multiple will only allow 3 month per stay and she can't just exit and reenter.

You will need to demonstrate that you can support her while she is here. She needs to demonstrate that she has compelling reason to return. It's all in the thread.

Hi,

Thanks for that. I'm already here.

The recognised time for issuance of even a tourist visa on line is a month.

We haven't got a month.

i'm aware of the support requirements and we have buckets of them.

I've read the thread.

I'm searching for a fast track that preferably involves humans.

Thanks again for your input.

If your in bkk go to VFS They check all your docs then forward to embassy. You can result posted to you. Whole thing takes 10 days. Not aware of a fast track

Hi,

Unfortunately I'm way up north and I'm fully aware of the VFS systems. As I said in the OP 10 days is really pushing my luck.

I'm also unaware of a fast track, hence my post.

Thank you.

As I stated earlier. You can do it online. Bit depends on strength of your partners case. You could return and she follow you. Just a thought. Good luck

Can I give you a hug? Must be very tough and tiring period.

You've very strong will. I wish you all the best.

I'm afraid that I've not got any meaningful advice to offer, suffice to say that I wish you well and hope that you can actually get to speak to an Australian official who is able to show some compassion and address your problem.

I've taken the liberty of slightly amending the title.

Good luck.

Plwch,

I have the same cancer (Multiple Myeloma) as you so i can identify somewhat what it must be like and how you really don't need these extra problems. I am lucky , my wife is here with me but i must admire your tenacity and will to hop on a plane and fly to Thailand. Mate, i can't give you any advice ,except take care of yourself and i sincerely hopes it all works out for you.

OP first of all please accept my concern for you & your partner, I too have cancer but not the challenging form you have been diagnosed with.

I have done a search on the Immigration site & there is visa, at no cost, to travel to Oz to support a patient, although it does not exactly fit your circumstance - Medical Treatment visa (subclass 602)

https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/602-

When you have some spare time would you be kind enough to update the outcome of your partner's visa application as I'm sure your situation will in the future apply to other Aussie nationals residing in Thailand.

For the meantime I wish you well and a successful application for your partner.
