Hi all,

I am looking for some advice. We have just moved house and have an excellent place by the pool for a gazebo. I am in Pattaya and looking for suggestions or referrals for a builder who can knock something up(or a pre made one).

The area is around 3 x 3, it is already tiled and really just needs the stanchions and roof(see pictures). Our budget is around 50-60k, any suggestions?

I would just buy one of those pre built "sala's" that you see all over Thailand

There is one place on Sukhumvit going North just past the Route 36 intersection and there are several places also along Suk in Sattahip, just after the intersection near Tesco Lotus going South towards Ban Chang

Most will deliver and set up, but based upon your picture of the existing stand, set up should be no more than just leveling the unit. Cheapest way to go IMHO and I spent the money having a pergola built

That looks good, I really just wanted a roof though with maybe a wall closing off the back(street side).

That way I could have sofas in there.

The main reason is so I have somewhere to lie down and read a book while keeping half an eye on the kids swimming.

I was considering that at the front(there is already a step on the otherside), but only a narrow one.....maybe a metre wide.

Any particular reason you suggest going all the way around? We don't want to pull out that tree at the front

No reason. Just my preference.

One problem you may have is that looks like it could have been the Buddha shrine before..

I thought it might have been, but it seems a bit big for that.

But why would that be a problem, will Thais not build on it? My wife hasn't said anything about it.

Dunno.. Thais do and have weird stuff about the shrine space.. Just saying! If the ya wife is happy about it then no problem.

Good, I was worried I might have trouble finding a builder to do it.

maybe ask a direct question about it to the wife.. I know that there is a correct way of "unshrining" so to speak.. I had this conversation with my wife, because I wanted to move one. Decided not to bother after about 10 minutes of listening to hocus pocus !!!
