Phuket Airport security remains at ‘Level 3 Plus’

PHUKET: -- As Belgium police launch a manhunt for key suspects wanted for the terror attacks in Brussels that killed at least 35 people, Phuket International Airport Director Monrudee Gettuphan has reconfirmed the security status Phuket’s sole flight portal.

Ms Monrudee this morning re-confirmed to The Phuket News that security at the airport is at “Level 3 Plus”, the highest level without closing the facility.

“We have more patrols throughout the terminal and outside, and security checks on vehicles were stepped up at 8pm last night,” she said.

More officers have been assigned to patrol the entrance and exit to the airport, and officers are conducting checks on vehicles entering the car park building, she added.

Wind and Urination spring to mind

well at least the checks are done before the terminal. the flaw in airport security everywhere is the area just before security when you walk into the airport. Just like Brussels.

so the Thais would have to search luggage in the cars, so not going to happen.... not too effective this way unless they are looking for you know who.

do they have bomb sniffing dogs?

i was in Belfast many times during the "Troubles". You are taken to the hotel parking lot and everything searched before you enter hotel. Searched getting on plane to Belfast and searched again getting off the same plane.
