We have a Chinese pvc inflatable boat we used for some time in the UK. It is big and stable and we brought it and it's engines with us. Unfortunately one of the valves has failed and needs replacing. I can patch holes no problem, it uses a 2-pack epoxy glue and pvc material, but changing a valve is something I am unable to do having no expertise in inflatable boats and no access to parts.

So can any kind soul please point the way to an inflatable boat repairer not a million miles from Bangkok. We are actually North East of Bangkok.

Many thanks.

Right, don't bother folks. I did a bit of research, new valves can be obtained in the UK although someone would have to post to Thailand because they won't post international.

To fit one you need a special spanner that costs more than the valve.

But they helpfully showed pictures of all the valves and how to fit/remove-re-fit them. Also large pictures of valve and it's components and the spanner.

So I looked at mine and went off to the workshop for some stainless steel tube and thick stainless sheet, guillotined some strips of stainless and welded them to the end of the tube with the mig and hey presto - a crown shaped special spanner.

I used that and unscrewed the valve which came completely out leaving the back-nut affixed to the inside of the tube. Sorted the stuck valve and put it back so now we are hot to trot!

Pressure testing tomorrow!
