PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN:-- A search party was sent out to look for two German tourists feared lost and in trouble at a park in Prachuap Khiri Khan south of Hua Hin, reports Thaivisa News.

Despite warnings that it was unsafe to go up the peak without park rangers the two tourists and ridden a bicycle to the foot of the mountain and set off.

Fishermen had alerted park officers that the tourists, a married couple, might be in trouble especially as it was getting dark on Saturday evening and feared they might be stuck.

A search and rescue party was organised but the tourists were found safe on a mountain path.

Park officials have warned tourists and resort owners in the area of the Khao Ta Mong Lai park that it is dangerous to attempt the climb without a ranger who knows the route.

It can be especially hard to find the way back when it gets dark, they said.

Then why not make roadsigns along the tracks? Or do you want them to hire a ranger?

This news will be in the European newspapers and it's not positiv.

Leave them there for the night is an option

At least they may learn from it

They might even like it and tell all their friends back home about their adventure.

But in Germany (and other EU countries) they have walkingtracks everywhere with roadsigns. Tourists (and locals) l use them a lot.

Since Thailand begs for more tourists they could make the country more attractive by developing walkingtracks. Climbing a mountain is more fun then seeing another temple. If they plant nice fruittree's/flowers along the tracks it might even get busy there.

Not positive for Thailand or for clueless German tourists? Do you honestly expect every hill, mountain or wilderness area to be littered with signs along the trails. They were warned, made a choice and then experienced the consequences.

No we like the national parks as they are thanks. As soon as signs go up the parks get flooded with tourists (domestic and international). It's great to have undeveloped rugged nature, which is difficult to reach as that is where you can go to experience nature and recharge your batteries.

The article does not say they were lost. They were found on the path, presumably on

their way back down. No need for the overreaction by the Thais. If they were lost a

search the next morning would have found them. coffee1.gif

Everything about this report is positive except that the daft tourists didn't take the advice not to go unaccompanied. All that will happen is they will look foolish in the eyes of their countrymen if it's reported in the European press as you (with your crystal ball) predict.

The problem wasnt that they couldnt find their way back home, the problem was that it was getting dark and they wouldnt have be able to find their way back home and road signs wouldnt have helped, because they couldnt see them in the dark .

This story really wont be covered by European media , because nothing really happned

When i went to kanchanaburi with a group of Thai friends they all brought their 4wd suv's. They even drove it through the rivers all the way to reach the waterfalls where i could swim (they wouldn't swim there, only sit under the tree's).

So that's what will happen if there are no good tracks.

On the way back i also sit in the car, much more convenient because there was no good track.
