Immigration stamp wrong

Featured Replies

I flew in to Suvarnabhumi Airport last month with a multiple entry tourist visa, expecting to stay 4 months in the region and be in and out of Thailand during this time. I understand that this visa gets me 60 days permission to stay each time I enter the country.

I was just photographing my passport and visa to keep copies in my phone, and when taking photos of the stamp, it appears to be wrong. I got 60 days permission to stay...plus another 9 years. The actual date is right i.e. for 60 days, but the year is listed as 2025. Obviously that is not correct.

I will cross over in to Cambodia later this week, exiting Thailand by land. I am leaving well before the 60 days so it's not like I am overstaying the 60 days or anything like that. Will I have any problem leaving with this stamp wrong in my passport?

I am posting here for advice as to whether I should just exit as planned, or do I need to get it corrected before I leave? I don't want to have any problems and if I need to do anything to rectify this before I leave, it would be good to now. I am currently in Bangkok if that makes any difference.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

A simple stamping error.

If your date of arrival is correctly indicated in the passport and on the departure card, then, as you are staying less than 60 days I would not worry about it.

It will not be a problem when leaving the country as long as you do it on or before the day and month stamped ignoring the wrong year.

i think in your best interests it would be better to sort it out prior to travelling

my reasoning with this is it is probably easier to pointing out locally that their may have been a mistake made

rather than get into an airport situation where you may find yourself in a defensive mode

i dislike the so called face saving theory but for ease of transit lessen the areas of possible stress

Just for curiosity: could you provide a scan/picture of the stamp?
