CityNews – On April 1, Tassanai Buranupakorn, Mayor of Chiang Mai, joined with the Fire and Rescue Department to give information to the public regarding being safe and escaping LPG fires in cars during Songkran.

Many locals and institutions joined the event which had practice simulations for people to join in with.

A few days ago there was great distress that tourist performed a handstand in front of this "sacred site"...

Now it's OK to set fire to cars in front of it and push others into the historical moat....

No doubt the tourists having learnt such important lessons have now left and songkran isn't until next week...

Thai way ....

If I read this article correctly it is saying there will be no sale of booze around the moat, I hope they mean, by the mobil vendor carts, who

normally have in the past sold along the foot path. I have not heard of a ban for bars / resturants across the road from the moat selling booze.

No alcohol sales between 2 and 5 pm.
