Should of been stopped years ago, all a bit Naff...

Eurovision?

Well, it's not required viewing, even if you're gay.

Now that Australia is in and considering Australia's connection to the UK and the UK may "leave" Europe ... why shouldn't the USA, Canada, and Argentina be next?coffee1.gif

Yes, I know Israel isn't in Europe and the rule is about having the broadcast connection.

But Azerbaijan, etc. isn't in Europe either.

Where does it stop?

I do think they've opened a can of worms including Australia.

I assume that when Australia wins it, the next year would be hosted in the U.K., not Australia, right?

Yes, Eurovision, been Naff for Years....

Thankfully that's it finished for another Yesr, or hopefully never again...

So am I and so have I. It is new that people from the US are interested, but the ESC is now aiming at becoming a world-wide contest. Apparently, it works.

In Europe, the European Song Contest is a gay must-see, from the times it was still called the Grand Prix d'Eurovision des Chansons. Changing the name into English is part of the marketing campaign to reach a wider audience, I suppose.

As far as this first ... penetrationsorry.gif ... into the live broadcast t.v. U.S. market, it was on LOGO. LOGO is the U.S. national GAY t.v. channel. No, it's not the U.S. equivalent of BBC. So there's a long way to go for the ... penetration ... to go. On the other hand, LOGO has 50 MILLION people with access, so not too shabby.

If LOGO wasn’t the gayest television station already, today’s announcement that they will air the Eurovision song contest grand finals live and commercial free should seal the deal.

While ESC has cult status in the gay communities, it is not a gay event. It is the biggest non-sport event in the world, and therefore it also has many gay followers.

I am surprised that only a gay channel picked it up in the US; as the biggest non-sport event, I smell a lot of advertising money for any broadcaster who carries it. But hey, not my problem.

The biggest gay event in the world is the Sydney Mardi Gras, I believe.
