Embassy asking for "Services receipt" for getting new passport.

Hello everyone.

I am from Argentina, and my passport its almost full (two empty pages left).

I am in this moment on a 90 days visa exemption.

My embassy is asking me, for getting a bio-metric new passport some sort of "Services receipt" (serious one), such as water, electricity, renting contract, internet, phone, etc.

I have none of this, so even they guy answering the phone (in the embassy) recommended me to do a mobile phone one. ("postpaid"?). Which is reasonable because it would be the cheapest option.

Right now i have "prepaid" of AIS, the other day i went to a DTAC shop (there is not a AIS serious shop so close to me). And i found a mobile phone plan, only phone, no 3g,etc. For 200 a month. Which is fine, but they asked me for a copy of my passport and a copy of my credit card. This last one is the one i am concerned, should i trust that?

Do you know the typical type of requirements to do a 3 months mobile phone contract?

If i don't get some sort of "Receipt Contract" they will only grant me a "emergency passport", which is quite doggy indeed.

Any suggestion for a mobile plan, or other type of contract??

Thank you in advance!!!

Could you get a rental agreement for where you are staying that would satisfy the renting contract requirement. Blank agreements can be obtained at stationary and book shops. All it requires is a signature from the owner, you and a witness. They can be written as a month to month agreement.

Asking for copy of your credit card seems a bit dodgy. True Move seems to be fairly easy to get a post paid contract from. Not long ago I changed my prepaid sim to a post paid not long ago and all they wanted was a copy of my passport.

Thanks again Ubonjoe.

Been to True Move shop, the manager from it asked me work permit.

The employees didn't seem to know that requirement.

I will still ask in other phone companies, and check some stationary or book shops here in Chiang Mai.

Is there any type of problem that could arise from signing a contract?

I suppose my embassy is just asking for a contract like a sort of formality, I suppose they will not even check it thoroughly.
