Importing from China

Featured Replies

After some advice for my Thai gf who is looking too import some products from china (via alibaba). She has found a supplier and ordered a sample but not sure about the process for importing more (50 or so for 1st run) ... what are the import taxes and is it best to get an agent to handle or Diy? Any advise or links to info appreciated . Cheers

Depending on what it is it could be alot more , theres a website on one of the government sites that lists duty and taxes payable on imports.

Google is not my friend but it may be yours :-)

Good Luck

Depending on what is the shipment method.

If the items are small, your girlfriend may opt air courier to receive the goods. This option is the most expensive one..but courier company like DHL or FedEx are capable of clearing the goods from customs for you. This is provided you are receiving the item in your personal name. Not under the name of a company.

If the items are big and you plan to ship via sea freight, I highly recommend that you start looking for a shipping/forwarding company to handle that issues as sea freight is a ton more troublesome.

Hope this helps.
