Best tyres for curvy mountainous roads?

Featured Replies

Need to change tyres on my Honda Jazz. Looking for tyres with exceptional grip as most driving I do is on mountainous curvy roads. What would you recommend?

Low profile Goodyear F1 eagle one directional tyres are excellent wet or dry in my experience of many types tried.

That said it depends on how the vehicle is set up and what type of vehicle, for a Jazz IMO they would be ideal.

My experience of Thai roads is that they tend to have rather poor surfaces and a lot of potholes etc.... Especially in some of the mountainous regions unless you are lucky enough to live in an area where the military likes to maintain good roads for their own purposes.

If this is the case I would avoid low-profiles as they decrease the amount of shock absorption on what are already rather fragile alloy wheels - the next thing you'll be contending with it cracked rims.....not a safe situation.

Post # 4... We will have to agree to disagree here to. biggrin.png

I know the roads are bad in places as you say and have experienced them touring on motorcycle and car but having been in many mountainous areas found the roads very good, don't know about OP"s area.

Still checking out in good shape the alloy rims we've had for 8 years on my wife's Yaris and the 2nd lot of same low profile tyres take sharp bends, winding mountain roads and bad bumpy corners with no problem.

On a similar small car like the OP's Jazz I think he would find them suitable as to what he asking for.

The comfort zone is compromised to some degree but with correct tyre psi the road holding is significantly increased.

I just bought a set of Vredestein UltracVorti 225/40/18. Its a low price high performing tire. Got pretty good reviews.

Paid 32,000. Guess smaller tire would be considerably cheaper.
