Anyone In Phuket Using 3BB's 50Mb/s VDSL?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of changing - faster, cheaper than my ADSL.

Anyone have experience?

Current cost is 1,500 baht "guarantee" (?) for the VDSL modem/router + 749 baht per month.

Would you get 50 Mbs on a copper wire connection on VDSL? As a comparison I have the 1,200 baht per month 3bb fiber optic direct to the modem which is rated at 100 Mbs. I do get that if I do a speed test to Bangkok, but to Europe or USA it's anything from 20 - 40 Mbs. I have got a little bit more than 50Mbs to Singapore but I'm in Phuket and there is a direct link that doesn't go via Bangkok.

50 Mbps on copper? - yes, that's what they say! And 10 Mbps UP. You don't have to change the cable/copper wire - just the modem/router.

I get about 15 down and 1.5 up to Singapore on my ADSL.

But it's unlikely you'll get 50 Mbs if I get an average of 20-30 on fibre. I get a max of 10 up. What they quote is local Thailand speeds.

Have it now for 2 month and works fine...

International speed varies from 6 to 14 Mb down and almost steady 8-10 Mb up...

The modem router is working fine, the WLAN connection and range is great... but should come with 10/100/1000 for LAN and not 10/100 which is a bit outdated.

Over all, much better and cheaper than the old contract.

Hope it helps...

PS: I am located in Rassada (Srisuchard Grandview)....
