Ok, riding home from Lamai today, nice weather, pleasant ride.

Coming up over the hill by Samui Rescue there is a car splitting lanes coming right at me!

It is the Bophut cop car, the only cop car on the island. It is driving between the lanes with no regard and escorting a van.

Not the Royal Family, not enough escorts so could only be a local "hotshot".

Total clown behavior.

I have nothing but praise for the cop who owns this car. He is based at the Chaweng police station and is in plain clothes. Several years ago at about 11am a Thai guy high on drugs was taking pot shots at anyone he saw on the beach road in front of Zico's, then ran into Centara's laundry behind. The cop arrived in minutes, parked this car at Tradewinds shouting for everyone to take cover and began searching for the shooter. This cop flushed him out of the laundry and chased him out onto the footpath and shot him in the legs then kicked the gun away. By then uniformed cops arrived with an ambulance and carted him away, to hospital I presume and as we thanked and waved the cop goodbye, I could only wonder how often a Thai cop comes across nutters like this. Thankless job.
