BANGKOK: -- Most people have not yet decided whether to vote for or against the draft constitution and whether to accept or reject the proposal that senators are entitled to select the prime minister during the five-ear transition period, according to Nida Poll.

The National Institute of Development Administration conducted the opinions of 1,500 people of diverse occupations and education levels during May 23-24 about the referendum on the draft charter. The opinion survey is the third of its kind carried out by Nida Poll.

The results are as follows: 39.53 percent admitted they have not yet decided how to vote regarding the draft charter; 32.07 percent said they would vote; 19.73 percent said they would exercise their voting rights but not yet decided how to vote and 8.67 percent said they would reject the draft.

About the role of the Senate in the selection of the prime minister, the poll shows the following results: 35.47 percent said they have not decided yet; 29.20 percent said they would vote for the proposal; 21.93 percent said they would reject the proposal and 10.40 percent said they would exercise their voting rights but not yet decided how to vote.

How many fully understand what they're being asked to vote on ?

This whole open and free appearance is a sham designed for international appeal.

Polls ?

Army commissioned questions

""What is your Name ?............er ..""'Kanaporn Seeta ""

And do you like the NCPO ? (silent pause) .."Ka "

As for the people deciding part-

They must think we are dumb.

Deciding ?

Really ?

Jail terms for saying the document itself ensures rigged power.

Or even wanting to vote no is risky.

Little news announcements that make it appear democracy is alive i well in Thailand - is far too late.

The panic is setting in allowing overseas trips etc.

The Fan Boys will be rejoicing that their Draconian Government is loosening the grip.

But in fact its not.

Either way they won't relinquish power and will shoot to kill if necessary protesters.

Thailand is still a potentially powder Keg

Regarding the recent NIDA poll on the referendum, do you believe:

A. The poll was conducted poorly

B. The news article about the poll was done poorly

C. Both the poll and the news article were done poorly.

Unambiguous results to follow. :-)

The Nida poll is full of surprises, only twelve months back the a!!se licking pollsters would have you believe that 99.9% would vote for the referendum even thought it hasn't been drafted yet, how times have changed , how ever quite a few will make their minds up at the drop of a hat when they vote, what needs to be done is also a separate vote either way for or against the junta, then this will then separate peoples intentions , whether they like or dislike the Junta and a clear vote for or against the constitution, as no names are on ballot papers, no one will ever know who voted for what, as it stands now no one would no if it is rejection of the Junta or the referendum or vise versa, now , I'd like to see that......................................................cheesy.gif

39.53 percent is 'most'??

Not when I went to school it wasn't. Sort of reduces the credibility of the whole exercise for me really. Not that NIDA had a lot anyway.

W

Am I missing something?

Has the draft actually been sent out to the Thai populace yet?

They soon will, once UDD start picketing the poll venues

BS poll. Most of the population have no clue about the latest Referendum.
