June 12, 20169 yr As has been said this topic has been done to death. The conclusion is if you have a valid UK photocard licence legally you not need an IDP. An IDP is a translation of a foreign licence into English & adds a photo. A uk licence is, suprisingly to some maybe, already in English & already has a photo, so what's to translate? HOWEVER some BIB are unaware an IDP is not a requirement and may ask for one, though this is rarely reported here. So it may smooth yoyur passage/day if you are able to provide one. As others have said, if in Thailand beyond a temporary visit of 90 days, a Thai DL is required.
June 12, 20169 yr i am a bit confused on this issue, my uk driving licence proves i have a full uk licence, having driven for 50 plus years surely this is proof enough i am competant, also if i may ask Embassy fees, looks like they want £25 for verification of address and £25 for the licence , £50 seems a bit steep, as no rush i might go to the cop shop for verification cant cost £25. brown envelope time Be aware your uk licence expires age 70 and the photo may expire before that, see 4b on the licence. The issue of that licence only proved you were safe on the day of your test. (when there was a LOT less traffic around than there is today). How many times have you have your driving assessed since then?
