CHIANG RAI -- A lone robber made off with over 100,000 baht in cash from a Bangkok Bank’s branch office in Tesco Lotus modern trade store in Lampang after intimidating a teller that he had a gun.

According to eyewitnesses, the robber, aged about 50 and wore a mask, walked into the bank at about 1.20 pm. He walked straight to Counter 2 and told the teller to hand over cash in the drawer to him claiming that he had a gun.

The robber grabbed the money and ran out of the bank toward the canteen in the store where several dozens of people were having lunch. Then he lobbed pingpong firecrackers onto the floor resulting to deafening explosions which caused panic among the diners who were unaware of what was going on.

The robber sped out of the store, grabbed his motorbike and drove away toward the Lampang-Ngao-Phayao highway.

Maybe you shouldn't be able to walk around with a mask on? Easy to rob banks here because the police never patrol. They just sit in the AC and text their gik.
