Have been staying at a home 13 kms out from a northern Thailand country town recently.

I was looking forward to daily round trips on a Honda Wave but now not so sure.

Have had scooters come out from nowhere, the riders not even looking, and those large 2 1/2 seater pickups such as the Vigo and others just enter your path even when you're almost right on them.

A large percentage have heavily tinted windows, including the windscreen (illegal in my country) making the transgressors anonymous.

Even after barging out, some just then toodle along holding you up as though you don't even exist.

Even some trucks loaded with soil just barged out when I'm metres from them, no one wanting to stop for a moment, even if it's at someone else's expense.

I'm beginning to think it's not if but when I come a cropper.

I'm now watching my speed, giving me more control should someone enter my path.
