My Aunt & uncle are coming over to Thailand in October and want to get some dental work done, in particular a crown put on a tooth which I believe is a relatively expensive operation and requires multiple visits (Which is why they need to get it done in Phuket, since that's where they'll primarily be staying this trip).

It's their first time getting any work done in Thailand, so I want to make sure that it's a good experience for them, although of course cost is also a driving factor and the reason why they want to try getting it done in Thailand rather than back home.

Any recommendations on a good dentist in Phuket (Ideally in Kamala, or close to it, so maybe Patong as well)?

Better to get the dental work done before they come to Thailand.

Considering prices in most 'back homes' and high quality here I would disagree with you. Why di you think it should be done home?

The dentist on the main road in Kamala has a good reputation. She's opposite Oh La La. May be worth popping in to see if she can sort you out.

I don't personally use her as I have been going to the dentist next to Bangkok Hospital for years. If she cannot do what you want I would recommend him- again he has a good reputation, fair prices and has done a lot of very technical work on acquaintances of mine

Bear in mind there will be a number of different opinions here as we all have our favorites.

Don't suppose you know the name of the business or have their number/website?

As I might give them a call to get a quote etc, as being in Kamala they'd definitely be more convenient for us than going to Patong (Taxis there & back can add up quickly), and knowing that you've had a good experience there will put my mind at ease, since they're no longer just a random unheard of dentist.

I have my dentist in Phuket Town, dr. Tawachai, probably the cheapest dentist on Phuket, but he has done good work for me.

For more specialised treatments I have used several dentists, Rang Hill, Bangkok Phuket Hospital and Samkong Dental clinic. All have done good work, I was happiest with Samkong, it just felt good.

I'll PM you phonenumbers in a few moments.

I'll go round and check tomorrow- can't see a website for them. You can't miss them- they are right on the jcn of the northern traffic lights, opposite Oh La La. google earth only has a picture of the old business that was there.

Awesome thanks heaps, as I'll try to book appointments etc ahead of time to make sure they can get it all done in the week or so that we're in Kamala :)

I know this is not in Kamala, however the best dentistry work I have ever had here has been from the Bangkok Phuket Hospital.

They may be a little more costly than some others, however after having an absolutely terrible experience with a German owned dentistry in Chalong (months and months of pain and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy) and average service from a couple of others, I opted for Bangkok Phuket Hospital and have not been disappointed, this even after one episode where I had to wait almost an hour for my appointment (which they later compensated me for).

Also pain relief via gas and injection is available if required – – a big draw for me.

I used for a few years a very good dentist, Phuket Cosmetic Dental Clinic,  up the side road of the Bangkok Hospital in Phuket town.

I gave up as his prices became more expensive than my new guy now in Hungary.

But I had no issues with his work......and his surgery was top notch.

Will send you a PM with his phonenumber in a bit.

But he is located close to the main postoffice in Phuket Town, a few doors down from the DTAC shop.

Mission Hospital.

Mission: second that. The lady dentist there specializes in implants. The male dentist (I think head guy, although ts a small clinic) is Dr. Chukiat. We used him for the 12 years we lived on Phuket..excellent. Also, he has a clinic (very well equipped) at Talang, as well, open every evening and Saturdays, I think.

Were you to decide on him, I can PM you a locator map for his Talang clinic.

A word of caution, the dental clinics at the majors  are NOT part of the hospital, despite the bill saying so. The official policy is that ''the .xxxx hospital only rents the space to the dental clinic.''

If you find out the work was crappy and the dentist has disappeared when you go back there, you are on your own. that was our experience, and it left us with a bad taste in the mouth: (180,000 b).
