Oh Beloved Bangkok, How So You Have Changed...
I get most of my food delivered in boxes twice a week by a prepared meal delivery service. They drop them off for me in the lobby and I just throw them in the fridge. Then I reheat them for 2 minutes in the microwave whenever I want to them. Food is fresh and delicious, cleaner than restaurant or street food, and I still don't have to do any cooking myself. Just buy a few drinks and fresh salad stuff at 7-11 as I head back home. The meal delivery service model been another major life changer for me in Bangkok. -

WWII- As Mr. Malik pointed out, here we are talking a defensive war, one against an undeniably evil enemy. So to lay blame on the US is false and unethical. The three areas where the US gov't does share some blame is refusing to try to halt the Holocaust. The US could have offered refuge, or bombed bridges and railroad depots. Potentially one tenth of the deaths may have been halted. The US also targeted German and Japanese civilians, killing at least 300,000, plus some civilians in occupied nations. Worst than that was the starvation tactics, deliberate mass killing of the buffalo by the US gov't, which is an element of genocide. The Native population in what is now the US was between 12 and 18 million in 1492. By 1900 it was 200,000. Most of those deaths were in colonial times, so blame mostly goes to the British. Some believe in a form of genocide denial, blaming disease as "accidental." First, disease was sometimes deliberately spread. It was also more devastating because of deliberate starvation tactics. (See above.). And finally, if one goes into an area knowing people will die because you spread disease, you are guilty of their deaths. Even before Europeans and white Americans knew about germs, they saw and knew the obvious, that they brought diseases and spread them to Natives and Pacific Islanders. They were just as culpable as an AIDS infected person having unprotected sex would be today. Civil War- here the blame should be solely on the Confederate aggressors who began the war. But they were legally still US citizens. 500,000 is the most widely used estimate. California Indian Genocide- 120,000 to 300,000 deaths during the Gold Rush, including widespread enslavement of Indians. These were mostly done by vigilante miners' militias. US Mexico War- 30,000 deaths. War of 1812- 12,000 deaths. In both these wars, the US was the aggressor. Slavery- deaths by the crushing of slave revolts should certainly count. -

Registering car in wife’s name. Good idea?
Did it for years. No problems. Only issue is if you want to move back home. The insurance will be in her name so you won't have a driving record and insurance will be expensive. This just happened to me. -

Was it offensive? Maybe to some, but being offensive is not an offense (for now). He was disagreeing with the government's policy. Going short-time only, shallow or succulent?
Here is another assumption that annoys me, maybe I am the outlier but I go with these women because I don't want a relationship. I enjoy sitting in my condo, watching tv, playing on my computer, reading books and eating alone. Being in a relationship would mean I would have to go to entertain another, something I am not interested in doing anymore. Just this morning I decide that I wanted to take a trip, I don't have to coordinate with anyone, worry about their plans, or think where we will stay that is suitable or them. Maybe in my old age I have become more selfish, but I enjoy being able to sit by myself not have to worry about someone else. I got tired of asking where should we eat/go/do/visit, Her "Up to you" Me (Ok lets go here) her "I don't like" I get an itch, I call a girl, she comes over, takes care of my itch, I get to go back to living my life as I see fit, Society's need to ostracize those of us that like to be alone needs to end -

Maybe some of the sentencing appears harsh but not to me. Throwing bricks, bottles and even fire bombs IS murderous stuff. And setting fire to buses, police cars, ambulances ? Who pays to buy another bus at c.£250K, or a Police car or ambulance costing maybe £80K ? Answer - WE DO !! Those who incite these riots are also responsible. You could argue that the costs should be recovered from the culprits where possible and that a 5 year sentence is a let off.- 1

Had really bad accident
No problem with answering that, and I don't believe you are being rude, but the motorbike taxi driver did a runner whilst I was unconscious and I don't remember even getting back to my room, even though I must have done somehow. So in a nutshell, no way to claim insurance even if I wanted to! My own health insurance does not cover outpatient treatment, so I paid for everything myself. And for the record I do have a car, but I had been out to a restaurant with friends and had a few drinks (not drunk) and never like to drive when I have been drinking, so the motorbike taxi seemed the best bet as it has done for many years in the past – – but not this time. And thank you for your good wishes. -
