3g In Thailand ?

Featured Replies

Hi, sorry if this has been covered, but searching on less than 4 characters doesn't work...

What is the current status of 3G in Thailand ? Is it available now, coming soon ? In the sticks ?

I remember a contract was awarded to supply it, but don't know if it is available yet.

Thanks,

Mike

Bumping this up in the hope of getting an answer :o

Hello,

I was hoping someone with more up to date info would post here, but they haven't so I will.

Hutch/Cat are in a partnership to supply 3G to around 60 provinces across Thailand. The service is running now in Phuket. I was waiting for the updated article in Phukette Gazette, but it never appeared.

They say the service should be available for the masses in January. In the village where I live, there are two new cell towers with Hutch/Cat CDMA signs on them. My girlfriend spoke with two workers who were at the tower, and they said the service was being tested, and would be available in January.

So, it looks like it is time to start looking for the Hutch/Cat office in your area, or looking for some towers or asking at the mobile shops. I have yet to find a Hutch shop in Surat Thani, or Nakhon si Thammarat, though its obvious the service will be available here.

Hope this helps....
