I just had my Toyota Hilux Tiger 4WD Manual for 40 000 km service.

I thought you get free service the first 36 months or 100 000 km but that seem to be wrong.

So how could it cost 7012 bath?

Service cost 1080 bath minus 10% ends up with 972 bath.

New airfilter 935 bath

Engine Oil 4 liter a 355 bath is 1420 bath

Transmission Oil 3 liter a 340 bath is 1020 bath

Then it is another 8 lines but all in Thai so I don't know what it is.

Total Labour Charge is 1017 bath

Total Parts Charge is 5536 bath

Tax 458.71 bath

Grand Total 7011.71 bath

How can they charge 355 bath for 1 liter of oil? Plus tax!!

I had my Toyota Corona to my normal garage and they changed timingbelt, 4 new sparkplugs, new filter and new oil.

That was a Grand Total of 2400 bath

My old pickup, Mazda B2500 costed normally 7-800 for service incl new oil and new filter.

So that was the last time I went to Toyota for service.

Someone else that got robbed by Toyota too?

Well was it "with" or "without" vaseline?

Wow , those are "back home" prices.

What dealer so we know ?

The air filter is a total rip off , these can be bought for around 200 to 300 baht.

I took my Vigo 2WD in for the 10,000k service last month and found quite the opposite .

I had to ask them to change the airfilter , and fuel filter , and he wanted to change from synthetic oil to a cheaper grade to save me money .

The old airfilter was returned in the replacement box .

The airfilters should last 20k , but with the smog in bangkok , I prefer to change them out earlier . Fuel filters at 25k , but to replace or rebuild injectors is far more expensive .

I would say you were ripped off , and would be looking at another dealer for future services .

My service cost just under 3000 baht and labour was free . Synthetic oil is quite expensive , but I prefer to run the same oil through the engine for it's lifetime . Different oils may not be compatable as anti foaming and cleaning agents can leave excess residue in the engine .

Mine was serviced at Thonbury Toyota .

Cheers ,

Jim .

Toyota Hilux Tiger 4WD Manual for 40 000 km service.

if its a hilux tiger then isnt it more than 3 years old ?

i had my vigo 4wd automatic serviced last week (40,000km) at a toyota dealership

3385 baht , ( free labour and 10% discount on parts for first 100,000km/36 months.)

engine oil .....97 baht/litre

transmission oil ....460

oil filter .....175

brake fluid .....208

fuel injector cleaning fluid .....290

rear diff oil ............ 340/litre

the air filter is only cleaned at 40000 , not changed

other bits and bobs bring it to 3385 after discount.

normally toyota are very good , and try to keep the costs down , it sounds like you were overcharged , those oil costs dont seem right.

i would go back and speak to the service manager and ask him to go through the bill with you.

normally , at each service you should be given a small cardboard reminder on a piece of string , (you hang them off the indicator switch) ,it will tell you when your next service is due and how much it will cost. have a look at the one you got when you had the 30,000km service and see if the price quoted was 7000b.

The car will be 3 year in Januari 2007 so it is within 36 month.

I just bought the car 2 months ago so I don't know the history. But it has been to 30 k service but not 20 k.

The dealer is Toyota in Chiang Rai

Yes, I will go back and talk to the service manager next week.

Thanks for all input.

:o:D:D

But still I will go back to my old garage for next service.
