BANGKOK, 23 July 2016 (NNT) – The Metropolitan Police are currently reforming investigation process at 30 police stations within a one-year time.

Deputy Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen visited Bang Khen police station in Bangkok to oversee the reforming of the investigation procedures - a task which all 30 Metropolitan police stations as well as other police stations nationwide are obligated to complete within a year.

He said the police stations need to set up integrated investigating teams according to the reform guidelines and set up at least three teams equipped with vehicles and instruments to respond to the reformed investigation process and evidence-collecting operations.

Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda had assigned 10 of his associates to oversee the reforming of the investigation process in each area to ensure it will be completed within one year, with progress and evaluation reports made every 15 days.

I expect all the police stations are still trying to understand what the word "reform" means....probably never heard of it. Once that is accomplished, which may take a long while...possibly at least a year, they will begin discussing how to accomplish the reform. No one should hold their breath.

Good old "airbrushed" Pongapat......never one to rush things!.....reform investigative systems....does he mean that the cops will actually have to go out of their stations and interview suspects???

I still believe he would have been a completely useless BKK Governor......this guy makes Sukhamband look clever.....!!

He is, and has been, a totally useless Deputy Police Commissioner

Reform investigation procedures, what investigation procedures ? The BIB absolutely screams lack of professionalism.

IF they actually get around to doing anything even if it's just BS for public consumption they can start with proper control of a crime scene and not allow everyone and anyone to trample all over it and another relevant point is to get control of BIB mouths and stop all the comments to the media just for publicity.

Thailand's biggest problem is that they believe they can do all this stuff on their own when in reality they can't, they just can't see that whatever expertise they currently have including Industry - infrastructure - medical etc is all imported from outside Thailand either through Thais being educated in foreign countries or foreign companies providing the training required to either manufacture or install and maintain infrastructure.

What this means is that if they want to have a workable Justice System and an effective professional police force they need to either bring people here who can show them how or send Thai's outside to be educated - the latter would take a long time.

It really is time this nation grew up and accepted the fact that it is not only Industry - infrastructure and medical expertise that beeds to be imported.

The "hub" talk is now wearing very thin indeed - how about this one for starters .....Thailand the Asian Hub of road safety or Thailand the Asian Hub of policing and justice

In order to improve these things you need to be shown how, just like when you build a Toyota Car _ Toyota shows you how, Just like when a doctor performs open heart surgery - a foreign doctor showed them how or they were trained in a foreign country

This must mean procedures aren't constantly under review to meet ongoing requirements and situation just left until it will take a year to review and report on then comes the minor issue of implementation.

Forget it all being sorted in one year if ever.

Why does it take so long to implement anything in Thailand? Laziness, incompetence, greng jai? Grow a set of balls F F S and make some decisions..coffee1.gif

The police reform in The Netherlands is taking much longer and seems to flounder.

Getting the new police pistol took a very long time, while the original choice was cancelled, due to aslightly, shall we say, clouded procedure.

I read a lot of things going wrong in the German, Belgium, French and UK police forces.

I presume, seeing the news, things can go, and go wrong in the US also.

Yes, also corruption.

Does not mean I condone things going wrong, it just means I think the politicos blur everything and make things possible or impossible, take your pick.

If the politicians think they can get civil security by spending less money on it as indeed needed, well, you can wait for wrongs.

Anywhere in the world.

The problem is there are just so many things wrong with the police and justice system, it should have been evolving over the years and yet it still has shown no improvement, just like past governments and constitutions there is no will for improvement because of massive corruption, greed and money rules here so standards and law have no place, there are just too many officials and people in authority enriching themselves, it will take something very special to break the mould and the mindset - it is a long way off unfortunately
