British Pension Rates of Exchange

Featured Replies

Yesterday two kind respondents suggested I transfer my UK pension to a Thai Baht account as the UK authorities offer a 'generous rate of exchange'.

Can anyone let me know approximately what that current rate is compared to today's Bangkok Bank telex transfer rate of 45.77 to the UK pound?

Many thanks.

My UK State pension is paid directly into my Thai bank account. Bangkok Bank deduct a charge of 100 baht + 0.1% of the amount, before it reaches my account. My last payment was on 26/7 and (based on the gross amount before charges) the exchange rate was 45.62 compared to the TT rate that day of 45.54.

I cannot comment about this weeks exchange rates.

I get my pension paid direct into my Krung Thai account and i am always happy with the exchange rate.

About 8% down on last month thanks to Brexit.

AFAIK KBank does not charge me anything in the exchange rate.

I know how much my pensions are in GBP and I know the KBank forex rate every day as I log into my account and read the daily rate around 9 am. Sometimes it will change during the day but not by that much. They are transferred in GBP and the exchange rate is done in Thailand.

I have been doing this for years with my state pension and mt other pensions as well.

Mostly I get the actual daily rate though sometimes I get a slightly higher rate though rarely a lower one.

Most banks in Thailand do the same and I often check here to see the difference.

XE is another currency conversion checker though I believe that the rates that they quote are for large sums of money.
