W 10 Anniversary Update with uncountable viruses and Trojans?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I've updated three machines in the last two days,. My school PC and notebook update went smoothly, but my PC at home caused some weird problems, which I've never experienced in my life before.

I've got Kaspersky as Anti virus, IObit Malware fighter and enabled the Windows defense. But plenty of Malware popped up, some serious Chinese "change your webpage" Trojans and some other problems. I've tried several scans, but my existing programs found nothing.

I finally reinstalled Spy- Hunter 4 and couldn't believe my own eyes when it found more than 7,000 problems, including Trojans, Hijackers, Password theft stuff, etc..

The joke is that the scan of Windows old din't show any viruses, so I must have received all the crap while doing the update. Should anybody read this, please use Spy Hunter and you'll get them all.

I did a complete scan and Spy Hunter finally removed all the bastards, which also showed me how worthless Iobit Malware really is. I've just read in another thread that the "Advanced System care from the same company seems to be the same old shithe"/

Did anybody ever experience something similar after an upgrade? It was pretty much annoying to have a "new upgraded" system that really upset me that I wanted to go back to the 1511 version.

Now all is fine and I'll install Spy Hunter 4 on my other machines ASAP. and run a full system scan. Thanks for any ideas what could cause such a strange result. Cheers- :wai:

What a wonderful world this could be.........I woke up had myy breakfast, switched the damn thing on and it shows me a message that a file :">LLasshollessPEV/?/X IS MISSING.

Unfortunately does the Macrium Emergency restore CD not work with the "new system."

I had to create a emergency boot disc using my notebook and now I'm trying to go back to the old version and wait.

I had other plans for my Sunday, no idea if Spy Hunter accidentally deleted a system file. It's booting normal, some of my programs come up but the screen stays black. Enough.

Would recommend anyone thinking of installing SpyHunter 4,check

out reviews on Google, where it's been talked about as a rogue

AntiVirus, where it will always find bugs ect, that no other reputable

AntiVirus programs will find, then you have to pay 39.99 Dollars to

have them removed .

To find 7,000 Virus,Malware,Trojans, that Kaspersky,I0bit AntiMalware,

and Windows Defender could not find, says it all I would think, plus to

have that many problems install with an official Windows update,to

put it mildly seems unbelieveable.

All you need is a reputable AntiVirus program that is kept up to date,

plus on demand scanners from MalwareBytes,Zemana Anti Malware,

and be careful what you click and you should stay safe.

Spyhunter 4 is a rubbish program. returning false positive results so you pay the fee, Delete it.

As  Worgeordie says, one reputable AV is all you need.

More than one active AV can actually cause problems as they see the other AV program as suspect activity etc, and shut each other down.

Thanks a lot for your great post, which makes sense. I've got the full version of Kaspersky Anti Virus 2016 and thought that Iobit crap would be okay.

After the upgrade there's a strange browser hijacker, ( sorry for got the name) and a few websites recommended Spy Hunter to remove it.

I'l go back to my 1511 system and wait how all the updates go. It was my own fault to get the update now.

But there's no doubt that i had plenty of Trojans after the upgrade, I've just read about the Edge browser hijacker, etc..

Look in five different forums and you get 25 different answers. Have a great day without hijackers.

I doubt you got this from Microsoft or everyone else would have too.

Which means they were probably already there to start with and at least one of them was blocking your antivirus from working.

Plenty of malware is designed to do exactly this to avoid detection.

Yep, you're right, it's almost impossible that MS gave me all that crap. But the torture never stops....

My notebook, which I've also updated showed some signs I didn't like and I did the "go back to the previous version" thingy, which surprisingly didn't work in  a way that the system booted.

Not a big deal, as i got all backed up with Macrium. What really bugs me is that I have to deal with  restore actions now and that's in no way how i wanted to spend my Sunday.

The stuff for school has to be done and plenty of other things are waiting to be done.

I know now that it was a huge mistake to upgrade all my machines and not just one.

Once they offer the update and my Kaspersky is running, I won't receive trillions of malware, that's for sure.

I made a huge mistake and now it's time to pay for them. For those who're planning to upgrade, make sure that you've got a functioning back up of your system.

It was my own mistake and it's unbelievable how many Trojans, viruses and other <deleted>'s just waiting to get in, once your AV is off.

      Amen.-

So you had urgent work to be done and decided to tinker first?

You just don't learn, do you?

Honestly speaking, the last would have been to use my son's PC which is also running all software I need.

I really stopped fooling around with PC's and certain programs, cracks, etc...it isn't worth the time.

I've got my PC and notebook back to normal and for I don't know what reason the thingy doesn't let me do the July update.

Error code: (0x80073712) Something went completely wrong and I overwrote my drive D that wasn't visible and I've lost all my stuff and I'm taking about 600 GB now. No, not porn....

But to answer your question, I did learn, but was too fast getting the new version of something I don't really want. System back and I feel much better and the PC is also much faster

I do have most files backed up on an external Samsung 1 TB, but the external one is in its last weeks/ months.

I've finally learned my lessons, but still don't know what wen wrong with Macrium which made my drive D invisible.

My own fault and I'll listen to your advice, full scan of all and everything. Thanks a lot for taking the time.

What you need to remember is that all that malware has probably been there for a long time so if there was anything on there that you didn't want shared with hackers, you're probably out of luck.

As said above Spyhunter is a big shit.

IObit ASC and malware fighter are ineffective. However IObit Uninstaller is perfect to completely uninstall the problem applications. The single also able to uninstall unnecessary apps windows (photos, TV, weather etc ...) in one click. Prefer version 6 beta.

Same for IObit driver booster (version 4, beta). Excellent and not intrusive.

To clean the PC I have never found better than ADV Cleaner, portable version.

Antivirus, the best known are effective. Personally, after having tested all the free, I chose 360 total security, ultra known and appreciated in China. In addition to antivirus it also allows to disable unnecessary services windows safely.

Finally, for completeness I recommend you install Do not spy 10, which allows you to disable spyware and useless gadgets MS safely.

Just a reminder that antivirus is next to useless these days.

They are coming too thick and fast for signature-based antivirus to keep up.

There is no substitute for sensible behaviour.

I could finally get both machines running well and had to learn quite a few things the hard way. There's no point updating a fantastic working system, if it's not necessary.

I do trust System Mechanic a lot more now, because it did a good job. The Kaspersky is still better than the Windows Defender.

I'll be more careful what websites i visit and thank you for your advice, really deeply appreciated.

All in a ll, I must have spent 7 hours of my weekend for nothing. I really like Macrium a lot, but have no idea why it erased my drive D completely and made it invisible so that I had to use Mini Tool Partition Maker to get all in order.

Why does Kaspersky tell me that TVF is a dangerous site?  I always have to give my okay to visit this website, which wasn't before. Is it possible that there's a new spy in the sky?

A great start of a fantastic week tomorrow !!! Cheers- :wai:

As much as i hate doing upgrades (as opposed to a clean install) it seem to be the way ahead as far as MS goes.

One thing that i always do when upgrading from a reliable source is to turn my anti-virus/malware software off. Once the upgrade has been done and the AV/mal software has been verified up-to-date, run a complete system scan. In all likelihood, the service would be stopped anyway by the upgrade, but i still like to stop it anyway.

Sorry, but I have to disagree on that one. Once I receive my update through the normal way, I'd never switch my AV off.

That was exactly my problem when countless unwanted little bastards came inside my PC and messed it up.

So why would i turn this protection off? Please explain, I don't get it.

If you can imagine one program trying to do one thing, with the possibility of another program interrupting that task leading to corruption of files/processes then you might see where I'm coming from. Why risk damage to a system file if the upgrade is from a reliable source? I understand you had one anyway, but that is likely from a false/positive that you have given permission for the anti-malware program to delete.

As for your 7,000 hits on malware from this software, they did not happen through any download from MS I'm pretty sure..........................;)

However, each to their own.

Okay, you're right. 7,000 partly serious issues can't be from the time of the upload. Must have been sitting somewhere and then started to reproduce. "Trojan horses" did get their name for a certain reason....thanks a lot for your reply.

A couple of hours spent in the right way and all of your machines would have been running genuine Windows.

Difficult to assist with your issues, as I just don't have any idea of the cracks and hacks that you have willingly installed yourself.

As you stated earlier, it's almost the norm to utilise hacked and cracked software in Thailand or to just install another program to 'take care' of an issue.

But as you can see, you end up giving more work to yourself in the end.

I read through the other answers and they only confirm what I already found about Spy Hunter 4 on your system....

Your last sentence looks like a very eager reaction: you don't really know the program and you are going to destroy the systems on your other machines if you install that program.

Seems that the unpayed version let's you find a lot of malware and other issues on your pc, but in reality you don't have any problems. I hope for your sake that you didn't do it yet and listened to what people said. Read also this site: https://malwaretips.com/threads/spyhunter-4-is-it-a-fake-software.26301/

Be very careful and don't overdo things on your pc.

Cheers

Precisely; probably hit the wrong popup on a porn website, executed malware that blocked his A/V, opened a tunnel to a C&C server and then downloaded and installed everything it wanted without him knowing.

My PC at school's working fantastic. The two updates I made at home went terribly wrong. I'll see how good the "new W 10" actually is and can always go back.

Yep, maybe the wrong porn?

When the OP is gonna learn that cracks for an AV or Anti malware program or whatever software that needs a subscription, contain malware or viruses that are designed not to be detected by said AV.

Posted

there is no need to crack most software as there are usually proper alternatives to everything. unless you start going in very specialized software, of course.

to be honest, the best way to do this would be to backup stuff you need and do full Windows 10 reset directly after the update.

I had to do that myself on 2 different computers, not because of viruses but because Windows 10 N - which comes without Windows Media Player decided to somehow disable the Media Features pack i had manually downloaded on all my computers and it was needed for some video recording software to work and impossible to reinstall back with the KB file i previously used from MS.

full reset straight after the Anniversary update put me right back after the Anniversary update but fresh. only thing i had to install was the Media Features pack and all my programs (90% of them on Ninite)

took give or take 45 minutes total

I just checked on the one school computer ( not my own that's running the anniversary update well) where somebody installed a fishy W 8.2 system and found out that the PC's ready to put the previous W 10 Pro genuine version on.

W 8.2 is the biggest trash I've ever seen. Not even with Classic Shell enjoyable.
