Small car parts from USA

Featured Replies

I was looking for some small electrical parts that are 99.999% impossible to find in Thailand, (originals) power window switches.

Two items that could be packed in a box not much bigger than a cigarette packet, a twenty packet, and were 45 dollars each.

I was quoted figures of between 95 and 116 dollars to have them sent to Thailand.

Can anyone tell me if there is a cheaper way to get them here. I don't know anyone who can help in the US.

I used to get quite a few motorcycle bits shipped over from the States and rule #1 - always use USPS. If Ebay or whatever shows one of the thieving private courier companies, just contact the seller (they will most likely offer more reasonable shipping prices too). I did notice USPS's costs nearly double in a relatively short space of time though.

At the moment, buying from the UK (if possible) is a better idea since Sterling tanked. Shipping is also about 4 times quicker.

Usually if I can get from UK I try to get by royal mail tracked and signed, fast and cheap. I did notice though it takes 2/3 days to get to BKK and then 5/7 days to do the last 200 kilometres to me in Rayong.

Get a friend to buy the stuff...Send it to you air mail....No probs...

I would love to do that but don't have a contact over the pond.

Most if not all just have the system set that is automatic to despatch by UPS FEDEX or whatever and can't do it any other way. :(

Hi, my own experience having parts shipped over from The States is as  follows, USPS often charge more for shipping than FEDEX or DHL, but on arrival here their is no or minimal tax to pay, on a 5000 Baht documented purchase DHL wanted me to pay 6000 Baht tax, it was a matter of pay or you do not get the goods.
