My thai wife owns car in Bangkok  and loan now fully paid off months ago

We have sold it to a family member.( and been paid in full)

But my wife,( and i) are in UK, and unable to travel back to complete the transfer of ownership  ( sick family member in UK)

Is there any way that the transfer of the owner in the blue book, can be done without my wife being present?

We can trust the family member.

( ie: we can  supply the original blue book and her id card, and maybe also her 'tabian bahn..":)

Or must she sign a form at the government office? ( would be great if they supply the form, its sent to UK and wife signs and returns it )

Thoughts appreciated as do not want to leave the car in wifes name , for potentially another year.

Years back my neighbor who had sold is vehicle while he was in the States downloaded a form.filled it out and sent it back with a bill of sale and a copy of his passport.  Don't know if that works nowadays. Oh...he signed the blue book as well.

Just have your family member go to the transport department and get the transfer form, post it to you to sign and send back. I can't see there being any problems.Ask them to find out what other papers might be needed while they're there as rules seem to change all the time.

I was not present when our last car was transferred, I just signed the forms before hand.

Problem is that for foreigners copy of visa page in pp is required. That means the embassy has to assist.

In the case of the OP that should not be a problem since the car is in the Thai wife's name.

As I said, they change the rules all the time , I certainly didn't have assistance from any embassy . But as you said it's in his wife's name so no problem

Nothing to do with a rule change. You signed the papers already beforehand, so all required paperwork was there.

When I sold my Vigo (In farang name) to another farang just gave him a bill of sale and all the paper work Book ETC. Only problem he tried to do it out of province and they declined, so he had to travel back to My local office to have it done. 30 minutes so he said and all sorted. He changed the Reg: No: in his local place/province. I didn't have to attend. But he did have his Thai wife with him as his Thai is at best rubbish.

If you do the same you should be fine.

The difference you were apparently out of country with all the paperwork signed in advance. In this case the OP is out of country with no paperwork signed. As mentioned, this is in this case no problem since car is in the name of the wife, so the paperwork can be mailed to Thailand. But with a foreigner out of the country the paperwork can not be mailed to Thailand, since there would not be a valid entry stamp in the passport. Which means the embassy has to assist.

I didn't say I was out of the country, just that I wasn't at the transport department when the transfer took place. I didn't give a copy of my visa stamp entry , just a copy of my main page (with my photo and signature) along with the transfer form filled in and signed by me.:wai:
