This app. has been around for over a year, but I just discovered it...by accident of course.

Android 7.0 (Nougat) is due to drop over the next few weeks, among the features expected is split-screen (already implemented in Samsung devices, with their own implementation, and as multi-window in some custom ROMs).

For those with a Nexus 5X, there is a factory image available for Nougat/7.0 (NRD90M).

FYI,  just got the Android 7 update for the Nexus 5X here in the US  "over- the -air" this morning 

 

It is a fairly large update (missed the screen showing exactly how many bytes) so I would recommend making sure you update using wifi, and not your cell phone's data plan 

The Nougat factory image for Bullhead (5X) is ~ 1.1 GB.

 

Note that the Nexus 5, and older devices, cannot run Nougat, and many similarly older devices will not run it. There may be custom ROMs based on Nougat which will run on these platforms?
