Thai Smile Baggage

Featured Replies

I am flying into Suvarnabhumi in the evening and then taking a Thai Smile flight to Ubon in the morning. Two passengers will have a total of four 23kg bags. According to Thai Smile we only have a 20kg allowance regardless of whether or not we flew in internationally. At 60b/kg fees, that will cost 3,120b in fees. Does anyone know if they ever waive these fees or honor the baggage of our international route the night before?

I had to pay the extra, but not the full amount  :) - Domestic flight totally separate to International

Kind of inflexible that 22 kg of excess baggage costs more than the cheapest one way ticket for one adult  person plus 20 kg.

You can only try to contact Thai Smile in advance and ask for a "discount".

1.If you are flying Thai Airways to Thailand and have an Orchard Card they might not charge you excess baggage on your domestic flight or at least they will give you discount depending on the tier you have .

2.If you upgrade to Thai Smile Plus you get 30kg rather than 20kg but you have to pay 1000 bhat to upgrade but you do get fast track and entry into the Thai Airways lounge and seats at the front on the plane and priority baggage at the other end.

3.Either way I think they will still charge you something for the amount of baggage you have ,good luck .

That's why I don't fly Thai Smile anymore. I choose AirAsia (40 kg) or Thai Lion (45 kg).

How do you get 40kg on AirAsia on a domestic flight and for what price?

Even 20 kg cost 330 Baht added to the advertised prices.

ThaiSmile has always 20 kg included in the advertised cheapest price.

Just one reason why I prefer ThaiSmile anytime.

Just checked with AirAsia, DMK to BKK.

20 kg cost 330 Baht.

40 kg cost 1210 Baht.

Example, Sep 5, one way DMK CNX with 40 kg.

2495 Baht paid with CC.

ThaiSmile, BKK to CNX, 1280 + 20kg*60 = 2480 Baht.

And as the OP will not be much interested to shuttle to Don Mueang he has no choice anyway :P
