Second round of resort removal from Phu Thap Berk begins

PETCHABUN, 19 August 2016 (NNT) – Authorities have geared up to remove 16 more resorts in the Phu Thap Berk area in a second phase of clearance, confident they will not experience resistance from operators.

Authorities in Petchabun province have begun the process of disassembling resort properties illegally set up in the area of Phu Thap Berk to satisfy government policy concerning the usage of the forest zone. The second round of clearance is being engaged in by a force of 500 soldiers, police and volunteers and follows a 7 day deadline allowed for the owners of the resorts to demolish their own properties.

The force undertaking the demolition has been divided into 5 groups and has begun the estimated 3 day project by moving in heavy machinery. All the agents have been ordered not to carry any weapons and to approach the resorts in a calm and patient manner to avoid conflict with operators. Officials however, do not believe the operation will see any resistance.

"Officials however, do not believe the operation will see any resistance."

"Good morning resort owner, you see that bulldozer out there? Well, it's coming through your resort in 30 minutes. Time to say goodbye"

The sleepless nights that the hi-so owners must be having. A gnashing of teeth and tearing of hair must be happening in some of the resort owners homes.

A blight on the environment.

I seem to recall some TV members complaining that these structures surviving Round 1 demo only proved favoritism by the junta?

...stage 4 cancer of corruption....long way to go......

Here's a couple of quotes from the newspaper article.

"It was reported that about 100 tourism-related operators would petition the Damrongtham centre in Phetchabun for justice and fair treatment. They said they would like the authorities to find a compromise solution to the problem."

What do these thieving B's want, a compromise.  I'd give them one together with some justice and fair treatment.  You now have 36 hours to get out or spend 36 months in the BKK Hilton, and the fair treatment, well, we will keep you away from the murderers and druggies. Just put you in with the pimps and other low lives.

" The operators claimed that the government’s attempt to reclaim the Sor Por Kor land from illegal owners would cause serious impacts on them, on tourism-related businesses."

Oh my poor dears. You have been thieving off the people of your country for years and by stealing the land you have been making money, no doubt not paying any type of tax and just thumbing your nose at everyone.  The serious impacts you will see are the dozers coming in and demolishing those illegally constructed buildings.  Their illegal tourism related businesses.  Oh please sir, we are just helping with tourism, it is good for us oops sorry, I meant for the country. for the country.

What a pack of snide sleaze balls.  Government, do not back off  and set these thieves up as examples for others to stay within the boundaries of what is acceptable and what is not.

One wonders what kind of government, land office and police force would have allowed the establishment of these resorts in the first place...oh never mind, what was I thinking.
