The Bangkok Fish Market Organisation, along with the Hua Hin Municipality and Klai Kangwon Royal Navy Patrol, have completed recent renovations of the Hua Hin fishing pier.

The Director of the Bangkok Fish Market Organisation, Mr. Manop Kanchanaburakul, said that the Hua Hin fishing pier had been modified with a 115 million THB budget. Fishing boats and the Klai Kangwon Royal Navy Patrol boats can now be moored and marine products can be brought ashore. The new fishing pier has the same standards as many other piers, having rubber bumpers that protect boats from damage by the pier pillars, as well as an area where boat passengers can embark and disembark. On the upper level, a private company has rented an area to market marine products, so that local fishermen can sell and buy their products.

The fishing pier can be another area where local fishermen can earn an income as well as local fresh markets. Responsible for supervising 18 fishing piers throughout Thailand, the Director of the Bangkok Fish Market Organisation said that each area had different problems, such as wastewater and trespassing. The Prime Minister Gen.

Prayuth Chan-ocha has ordered authorities to give priority to the Hua Hin fishing pier. Apart from serving as a business place for local fishermen and an area where boats can moored, the Hua Hin fishing pier will become a walking precinct in the late afternoon and evening where visitors can enjoy and admire the local lifestyle says the Hua Hin mayor Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul.

It has been a request of local people that an area be provided for small fishing boats and that the beach area between the new and old fishing piers be available as a public area with lights installed. Mr. Manop said that further development will be the responsibility of public and private organisations as a cooperative public development project. However the pier currently has restricted access due to the construction of new buildings. It will be some months before benefits to the public can be realised.
