The Mayor of Hua Hin, Mr Nopporn Wutthikul has welcomed and thanked three local business people who have offered to fund student scholarships which will recognise academic performance, advance the students’ education prospects and assist their family circumstances. The three benefactors are Mr Seung Lee Park from South Korea, Ms Enya Wang from China and a Thai national, Dr Dusit Charoen. All three are business people working and living in Hua Hin. Mr Seung and Dr Charoen said they the three had not known each other previously. After meeting they realised that they shared a vision to assist Hua Hin students. Mr Seung is a retired business man and Ms Enya owns a shop in Hua Hin.

They then asked Mr Dusit to join them in this project. Scholarships will be awarded every three months and will be valued at up to 30,000 THB. Both Dr Charoen and Mr Seung were from poor families who found it difficult to make ends meet when they were young. They needed to wear worn out school uniforms and study was difficult without electrical power at home and relying on lamps at nighttime. However they both persevered with study and found success in business after graduation.

They are eager to improve the quality of life for students encountering similar difficulties. Mr Nopporn said he was pleased that local business people were concerned about the problems encountered by local students and would like to provide them with better opportunities. He thanked them for their good intentions and initiative.
