Hi,

I have a girlfriend who lives in Ko Lat. I am going to marry her and I'm wondering where should we live. I prefer to live in Thailand so she could be near her family. I will have to adjust. I'm American and I'm used to living in the big city. I've always had a job and I wonder what I will do to occupy myself. Any suggestions on employment? What is life like in Ko Lat? How much does an average house cost? How much money will I need to support her, our future baby, and maybe her mom. I have 3,000,000 Baht. I know this won't last forever. I plan on spending 6 months in Thailand, then 6 months in America working, and then repeat. Any advice would be appreciated.

Those Issan girls strike again, god bless em.

I am married to a lady from Korat, I,m from the UK.

I would suggest you go there, spend some time there and make your own mind up.

Korat is a busy place and has everthing you could ever need.

Living in Thailand is as exspensive or as inexspensive as you like.

Working :o thats why we are in Singapore

New ,three bedroom ,detached house 1.2 million a few years ago.

Best idea would be to get the missus and her family working rather than you.

I would like to do the same here but I think the wife would find it difficult working on Tunnel Boring Machines.

Personally, I would rather be living in Thailand than Singers but that day will come when the work here ends.

Cheers :D

Get a visa for 3 months, grab your back-pack and just go there.

See for yourself first if you can live there. Can adjust to ther custums, food (local food) learn the language, time enough for that, because, work? almost impossible. Check some threats in this forum what a Farang can or more Cannot do.
