U-turn flyovers delayed again after local protests

PHUKET: -- The country's highest-ranking ombudsman met with local town planning and highways officers on Wednesday to discuss local protests causing delays in construction of two proposed u-turn flyovers along Thepkrasattri Road.

Ombudsman Office Secretary-General Raksagecha Chaechai met with the local officials to discuss plans following public complaints over two proposed flyover projects aimed at reducing road accidents and fatalities at busy u-turns in Koh Kaew and Talang.

The proposed overpasses would be placed at the first set of traffic lights north of Thalang Town, and another at the Baan Koh Kaew Tha Ruea u-turn in front of Baan Jee Teng

Maybe it is about the monetary compensation. One can feel sorry for the few locals but 1,000s are inconvenienced on a daily basis.

Isn't the first traffic light north of Thalang where you turn of to Nai  Yang?

Nothing but some shack's there, who is complaining???

Maybe the magnetic pole shifted & the compass still showed north instead of south as that is where an overpass would be more useful due to traffic build up there.

like thais are going to drive 1km to uturn safely

they'll wait at the downtown intersection or the uturn north of the police station.

I think I've said this before, but surely elevated flyovers or an overpass for through traffic North / South would be better, leaving u-turning and crossing traffic from side soi's etc to continue as is underneath.

The official in the centre of the photo is saying "There's a flasher in the bushes over there".

Phuket actual has "town planning officers????" 

Doesn't seem to be much planning going on.
