Rusty AirCon's, how to prevent ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I do live near the beach in Phuket, after 8 years got to replace 3 AirCon CDU (the cases) costing me 40,000thb +

The bottom of the cases rusted through. Completely.

I've seen in Australia you can buy Action Corrosion products, anything similar you can buy in Thailand ?

Another suggestion might be drill a few holes in the bottom of the cases ...

Open to ideas,

Best,

SB.

Red oxide primer would do the job, give a fresh coat every year

Simplest method is to drill the bottom out to release the water although technically it is trapped below the fan to get picked up and thrown into the condenser to assist with heat removal.

You can buy a basic priming paint from all the home pro's etc but then you need to take the unit apart to apply it, we use this stuff at work CRC soft seal and you can spray most unreachable areas. Hardware house I know for a fact sells it so some other outlets probably will as well

Ps We're on the 4th and 5th floor so annual maintenance is tricky, holes pre-install sounds the solution !
